Twenty

Make the Count, Beat the Table

Twenty is a clever adding game where every card matters. Players take turns playing card(s) that exactly match the next number in sequence, or draw if they can’t. Avoid penalty cards, plan ahead, use wilds wisely, and be the first to empty your hand or hit the count of 20. Strategy shines, luck plays its part, and quick rounds make each moment exciting.

How to Play Like a Pro

Making it to 20 has never been this fun!

  • Setup:

    • Use a standard 52-card deck.

    • Best for 2 players, but can be played with 3 or 4.

    • Deal 7 cards each.

    • Place the remaining deck face down as the draw pile.

  • Make the Count :

    • The count begins at 1.

    • Play a card or set of cards from your hand that adds up to the current count or draw from the draw pile.

    • When the count  has been made successfully, it is increased by 1 for the next player.

    • Play an eight to change the current suit—use it wisely!

    • The round ends when a player makes the count of 20, or when a player runs out of cards in their hand.

  • Scoring:

    • Each card ace to nine scores 5 penalty points.

    • Each ten, jack, and queen score 10 penalty points.

    • Each king scores 20 penalty points.

  • Count Values:

    • Ace count counts as 1

    • Two to nine counts as face value

    • Ten, Jack, Queen counts as 10; but a pair of tens, a pair of jacks or a pair of queens played together can count as 10 instead of 20 if the player so chooses.

    • King is wild and counts as any amount from 1 to 20 at the choice of the player.
